Class Description: In this class, students learn Quran and other Islamic Studies subjects. Students are expected to memorize the Quran following their individual ability-based schedule set up by the dugsi (Quran Standards).
Class Materials: All students are responsible for bringing their own materials to class each and every day. Unprepared students are not allowed to come to class. Failure to come to class unprepared may result student discharge for that day. Parents are responsible for taking student home.
Classroom Expectations · Be respectful · Be positive, considerate classmate! · Be organized and prepared! · Be willing to cooperate and work with others! · Cheating WILL NOT be tolerated. Any student caught cheating will receive serious consequences.
Attendance: You are expected to come and attend class every Saturday and Sunday. Dugsi starts at 9:00am and ends at 2:00pm. Students who cannot fulfill this schedule may be discharged from the dugsi.
Absences
The dugsi office will review attendance periodically and will communicate with parents to determine the reason for excessive absences. Excused Absence Parents should notify the office about their child’s absence for an excused absence. Only absences caused by illness, death in the family, legal or medical matters, or genuine family emergencies are subject to excuse.
Unexcused Absence
Homework Policy: · Teacher will assign cashar and or subac assignment weekly. When an assignment is given, I expect assignments to be done by the dates given in class. If student consistently fails to fulfill his homework obligation, serious consequences may result, including expulsion.
Code of Conduct
Because this is a religious setting and we are obliged by Allah to employ our best manners and etiquettes in our every day lives, especially in the masjid, students are expected to · Use kind an respectful with classmates, teacher, and others · Follow the adab of reading and learning Quran · Dress properly for the dugsi. Students with inappropriate dress may get turned away for that day. · All girls are required to wear proper hijab. No Proper Hijab, No Dugsi for that Day. · Fighting and other aggressive acts are absolutely not acceptable in dugsi. Students involved with fighting will be expelled. · All students are expected to be practicing Muslims. Skipping salah (prayer) at dugsi will result in serious consequences.
